"In Bowen's work, there is hazard to the homestead. Her poems reel you in with a southerner's hospitality, but as soon as you feel safe, the floorboards start caving in. Both devotional and dangerous, these poems are 'prone to strange weather.'"
The Fever Almanac
"This book is an amazing collection of poetry, well honed by Mistress of language Kristy Bowen. I learned new forms of poetry that were fascinating and fun to try on my own. Bowen's book is top-notch!"
In the bird museum
"The poems in this collection explain how to read them. Themes are present. Birds are present. There are guys hiding behind the bus stop woods, females in red dresses laying in ditches and more. Excellent work!"
Feign
"In her fourth full-length collection, girl show, Kristy Bowen dazzles and delights. Separated into three sections, Bowen’s poems are whimsical with a dash of darkness, conjuring images of blue tulle, a woman inside a wooden horse, hearts made of envelopes, and carnival curiosities."
