She has presented her work both locally and nationwide in a variety of venues throughout the years, including universities, conferences, galleries, bookshops and so much more.

Bowen is grew up in northern Illinois and graduated with her master's degree from Columbia College and DePaul University in literature and writing.

She manages the Chicago-based press & studio and works primarily as a writer, maker of paper goods, and editor of a chapbook series featuring female authors. She is presently employed at an arts college library, where she co-curates a project called The Aesthetics of Research that explores the relationship between libraries and the arts. She is a part of the Chicago Cryptozoological Society, a cooperative publisher and resource for public art.

What does it entail to be a novelist in a monster-filled world? What does becoming the monster entail? This series focuses on the nature of creativity in the midst of danger—to the body, the heart, and the earth—and how artwork can both rescue us and kill us at the same time. It rummages through dingy museum corridors and unkempt cabinet drawers.

This collection of prose poetry and lyric essays, which is set amid the ebb and flow of midwestern girlhood, exposes the deeper recesses of female awareness as well as urban stories, sleepover lore, and the rural and suburban gothic.

The conflict between mothers and daughters hangs over this new collection. Each person's spirit resides in the other. the body that is both hungry and alive. The speakers investigate the body as memory by using a starved Gretel, moms, and odd fictional offspring.

The anthology as a whole is masterfully put together, bringing alive all the thoughts you have but never express. The poems are alluring, addicting, and oddly beautiful. You'll soon be cheering for the rock.
